LeBron + Cornershop = Straight Awesome

Nike released a new LeBron James commercial over the weekend.
And it’s awesome.
The song is “Candyman,” an deep cut from Cornershop’s excellent album “When I Was Born For The 7th Time.“
This album features the superb talents of Tjinder Singh, but on this track the true stars are producer Dan the Automator and rapper Justin Warfield…
Beyond their wise selection of this truly choice song, the authors of this commercial did an excellent job sampling the track down to one tight minute.
Here’s the entire song – well worth a listen:
The content of the video refers to a new chalk routine that LeBron adopted at the Beijing Olympics and has continued through this season. Kevin Garnett was the first to make a giant cloud while applying chalkdust to his hands before games, but LeBron evolved this move into a more dramatic gesture, throwing the chalk skyward.
The effect is pretty damn sweet.
The commercial clearly seeks to demonstrate that LeBron inspires people in all walks of life with his talent and example, and one interesting way it does this is by including Jamie Nared, a 6′ tall 6th grade girl who has caused a stir in Oregon by destroying the competition in boys’ games.
It also features Lil’ Wayne and a cool barber.
Overall we give LeBron and Nike an A for this fantastic ad.
Please excuse us while we clean up the dust we just threw all over our office.
