FOTI #7: Fathers, F-Bombs and Flickr

After a three-week break, our new podcast is up!

In this music-packed episode, Alison and Alpine draft their favorite Father’s Day songs, grade a Report Card packed with viral tunes, and surprise each other with startlingly good internet jams. Then on a totally unrelated note, we present a discussion of the downfall of the once-great photo sharing site Flickr. With the music of Alison’s favorite band, the Stockholm sister act First Aid Kit, and a lot of swearing by the hosts for some reason.

Report Card

Unquestionably one of the biggest viral hits of the past fortnight-plus, this video delivered some devastating and amusing real talk about ladies of a certain age. Even Alpine, the biggest G&O hater on the Internet, had to admit that he laughed out loud.

This brilliant Funny or Die video gets a standing ovation from Alison and Alpine — a pitch-perfect sendup of the best television show ever, and of Broadway as well. Props to friends of the podcast David Richman, Isaac Laskin and Matt Fogel for creating the tunes behind this masterpiece. David Simon loved it.

Ladies! Are you looking for a maid of honor to deliver the best speech EVER at your wedding reception? Alison is offering her abilities to astonish your friends and family with a rendition of this inspirational homily from Krispy Kreme. Thanks to Liker Patrick for enlightening us to the works of this interesting new talent.

Alpine surprises even himself by coming to a bold defense of this musical artist, praising the song’s “production values” to Alison’s outright astonishment. Eff the haters, Max Harris! You do you, man.
